		<abstract>Satellite altimetry is a powerful tool to get time series of water stage in poorly monitored remote areas. Moreover, in widely inundated areas, it enables to study the relationships between adjacent water bodies. In this study, we present an analysis of the inundation cycle of the Amazon basin in the lower Madeira river basin. The water levels are derived from the radar altimetry of the ESA's ENVISAT satellite. The track 478 of ENVISAT ground-track network crosscuts the Amazon and Madeira rivers, the inundation basins on both sides, together with small tributaries and Lakes. Owing to the fact that the level so computed are georeferenced in a common frame, the geographical variations of the temporal stage variations permit to describe the cycle of connexion during high stages/disconnexion at low water periods between the different water bodies so monitored.</abstract>
